Four ways young people can get mental health support
In recognition of Youth Mental Health Day on Saturday 18 September, we’re highlighting the four ways young people can access mental health support in their local area.
Young people in Lambeth and across south east London can get a wide range of free mental health and wellbeing support at school, their GP, online and in community centres. Whether you’re looking for advice, information or professional support, for yourself or for someone close to you, help is available.
Watch below to see young people share their thoughts on the importance of easily accessible mental health resources for Youth Mental Health Day 2026.
Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health. Many mental health challenges can be easier to manage with early support, before problems become overwhelming.
Why seek support for your mental health?
The benefits of mental health support include:
- Finding help early before concerns escalate
- Improving emotional wellbeing, confidence and resilience
- Finding support in a way that works for you, whether online, in school, in the community or through NHS services
- Learning practical tools and strategies to manage stress, anxiety and other mental health challenges
- Reducing feelings of isolation by connecting with trusted sources of support
