  1. Residents across South London can now access 24/7 mental health crisis support through WhatsApp, offering a new, more flexible way to get help when they need it most.

A woman lounging on a light-coloured sofa, wearing a white jumper and blue jeans, looks at her phone with her legs up on the cushions—perhaps exploring mental health support via WhatsApp.

The initiative is designed to complement existing urgent support routes, including the NHS 111 “press 2” mental health option, by giving people an additional channel that may feel more accessible and less daunting than speaking on the phone.

  2. The 2026 Lambeth Carers Awards are open for nominations until 20 July. Local people are encouraged to nominate exceptional individuals who care for others in the community.

The awards recognise the huge contributions made by both unpaid and professional carers in Lambeth.

  3. Unbound Moving Arts’ Rhythms Club is celebrating after being awarded £6,837 of National Lottery funding from Sport England to help continue its work with older adults in Brixton. The funding will support 41 weeks of free, accessible movement classes for over-60s, delivered in partnership with Age UK Lambeth and MySocial.

  4. It’s Creativity and Wellbeing Week! Running from 18 to 24 May 2026, communities across the country are coming together to engage in creative activities, and celebrate their impact on health and wellbeing.

The benefits of creative health are numerous, from helping to manage long term health conditions to promoting better mental and physical health through:

    • Connection with others
    • The opportunity to learn and develop new skills
    • Moving your body
    • Expressing yourself artistically

Creative health can also play a role in strengthening community and creating healthier neighbourhoods.
