Your new NHS healthcare guide is here!
NHS South East London has launched a new illustrated guide to healthcare to help residents find the right care, first time. The guide takes a user‑centred approach: you simply start with your symptom or concern, and it sets out a clear route for you to access the most appropriate NHS service — whether that’s getting better at home, visiting a local pharmacy, or knowing when to seek urgent advice.
Look out for the guide arriving through your letterbox. It will also be available widely in pharmacies, libraries and other community spaces across south east London, so people can easily pick up a copy when out and about.

Co‑produced with local communities and tested with residents across the area, the guide was developed to be simple, accessible and easy to follow — particularly for people who prefer visual information or are less familiar with NHS services. Early pilots showed it was well understood and had real potential to change how people navigate their way around local health services.

A digital version is also available online, alongside a year‑round digital campaign to reinforce the message that the NHS offers many routes to care, from self-help to expert clinical advice on the high street, to urgent treatment centres or – if it’s life-threatening – A&E.
