Let’s quit smoking together this Stoptober

Smokers who quit for 28 days are five times more likely to successfully stop smoking forever. Get the help you need in Lambeth to get through that month.

Let’s quit smoking together this Stoptober

Stoptober is back, and we’re calling on every one of England’s 5 million adult smokers to join the 2.5 million happier, healthier ex-smokers with more money in their pockets who have made Stoptober their time to quit in the past 13 years.

Smoking remains one of Lambeth’s most pressing public health challenges. With 10.8% of adults still smoking1, rates here are above the national average and disproportionately affect communities on lower incomes and people with long-term mental health conditions. Tobacco use is also the leading behavioural cause of death, accounting for 23.3% of deaths in the borough in 20192.

Ruth Hutt, Lambeth’s Director of Public Health, said: “Going ‘cold turkey’ is still the most common way that people try to get smoke-free, but many people find getting support on their quit smoking journey increases the chances of success. This Stoptober, we’re encouraging more residents to use the support that’s available locally. Our local stop-smoking services have been shown to triple your chances of quitting successfully. They can offer tailored support that does make a real difference”.
