Lambeth selected as national pilot for neighbourhood health programme
Lambeth Together is proud to announce that Lambeth and Southwark have been selected as one of just 43 areas across England—and one of five in London—to take part in the Department of Health and Social Care’s flagship National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme.
This national programme will support the development of integrated neighbourhood teams, bringing together professionals from general practice, community and hospital care, mental health, social care, and the voluntary and community sector. The aim is to improve support for people with long-term conditions and reduce health inequalities by delivering more joined-up care closer to home.
The selection recognises the strength of local partnerships already in place in Lambeth Together and Partnership Southwark, which partners with the council, NHS and local community organisations.
“We are delighted that Lambeth and Southwark have been selected for this national programme to understand how we can better support residents with long-term conditions and tackle inequalities.” said Cllr Nanda Manley-Browne and Dr Di Aitken, Co-Chairs of the Lambeth Together Care Partnership Board.
Andrew Bland, Chief Executive Officer of NHS South East London, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate neighbourhood working, strengthen integration, and improve outcomes for our residents. Being selected reflects the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to improving care.”
The programme is backed by £10 million in national funding and will begin implementation this autumn. Lambeth’s involvement will build on existing neighbourhood models and community-led approaches, ensuring that local voices shape how services are delivered.
Next steps
Over the coming months, Lambeth Together will work with residents, clinicians, and community partners to co-design how integrated neighbourhood teams can best meet local needs. Updates will be shared on our website and social media channels.
