Yvette's story

Yvette shares her personal reasons for keeping her blood pressure in check.

Yvette outside the Lambeth Together tent at the Lambeth Country Show. She's holding a frame which says 'I've checked my blood pressure' and wears a yellow top and sunglasses“I’m the first person in my family on my mother’s side to live to 60.

“I had a stent put in after a heart attack when I was 40. My Mum had hypertension and she died young. My sister died early too.

“I believe in the grace of God and prayer. That’s the Lord’s part. But we have to do our part also.

“I eat and exercise and get my blood pressure checked. I had a knee op last year, and now I walk 10,000 steps every day.”
