About the fund
The Inspire Lambeth Black Communities Health Inequalities Small Grants Fund will award five grants of £2,000 to Black-led voluntary, community and faith sector (VCFS) organisations based in and/or operating in Lambeth.
Delivered through Inspire Lambeth, supported by Lambeth Together and funded through South East London NHS health inequalities funding, the Fund will support new community-led activities, pilot projects and new ways of working that improve health and wellbeing, help reduce health inequalities and strengthen grassroots community capacity for Black African and Black Caribbean communities in Lambeth.
Why this matters
Black African and Black Caribbean communities are at the heart of Lambeth’s rich culture, diversity and community life. Local organisations, faith groups and community leaders play a vital role in creating trusted spaces where people can connect, access support and build stronger communities.
As Lambeth Together develops the neighbourhood health model, the fund aims to support a range of projects that collectively provide coverage across Lambeth’s five neighbourhoods.
The fund recognises the important role that Black-led organisations play in supporting health and wellbeing and addressing health inequalities through community leadership, lived experience and local knowledge.
By investing directly in grassroots organisations, Inspire Lambeth aims to strengthen neighbourhood-based support and encourage community-led solutions that help people live healthier lives.
What we want to fund
We are particularly interested in projects that:
- Improve health and wellbeing.
- Help people access and use health services.
- Bring people together and reduce isolation.
- Build trust and confidence in local health and wellbeing support.
- Use local knowledge, lived experience and community leadership.
- Strengthen community support and resilience.
- Increase understanding of health and help people make informed choices about their wellbeing.
The fund builds on previous Inspire Lambeth programmes by investing directly in Black-led organisations and community leaders who understand the strengths, aspirations and experiences of their communities.
We are looking to support ideas that are shaped by local people, build on existing community assets and deliver culturally relevant approaches to improving health and wellbeing.
